You are absolutely right, a small low-performance aircraft such as C152 or PA28 would be more economical to ship in a container to Ireland. It doesn't have the required trans-oceanic range and it's considered dangerous to fly because of low reliability. However, a C400 is a high performance a/c with a top speed of over 215 knots. The risk factor for a pilot is much lower then the aforementioned small airplanes, travel time is shorter, range is longer. So many ferry pilots would undertake the delivery. Taking it apart may be more expensive then ferrying.
